BROWS

Rather than using ink like in traditional tattoos, permanent makeup uses thicker, less concentrated pigments. There are two main methods of permanent eyebrow makeup: micropigmentation (typically done with a machine) and micro-blading (applied with a manual hand tool). We do NOT do micro-blading, nor do we recommend it due to the scar tissue it will cause to the dermal and epidermal layer of your skin.

3D HAIRSTROKES $575

3D Hair Strokes is done using a machine technique designed to resemble realistic, hair like strokes. You would want this option if you have little to no natural brow hair to give your brows a more natural look.

OMBRE / OMBRE POWDER BROW $675

Ombre is a permanent powdered brow technique for clients who prefer fuller results than hair strokes, but still want them to appear very soft. This look resembles daily makeup done with an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow shadow.

COMBO BROW $800

The “Combo” is a combination of a machine shading technique and the 3D hair stroke technique. This technique is perfect for the clients who like the look of a soft penciled or powdered eyebrow or for clients wanting a more defined look throughout the entire brow.

EYES

We specialize in very natural looking eyeliner, so we only perform certain types. The procedure takes about 1.5 hours. We at Permanent Makeup in Maine refuse to (and we strongly advise against) PMU cat eye liner, PMU colored liner, and even black liner on lighter skin tones. Brown with a drop of black is usually a more flattering fit. If you do find a specialist who will give you PMU cat-eye liner, expect it to droop and crack in appearance as you age. You’re better off avoiding it.

LASH ENHANCEMENT LINER $500

Known as lash enhancement liner or invisible eyeliner, It involves tattooing an ultra-thin black line along the lash line to create the illusion of fuller, darker lashes—much like tightlining does—for a natural, eye-opening effect.

SMUDGE LINER $600

This particular eyeliner gives a more dramatic look. One of the most common PMU procedures done at Permanent Makeup In Maine because everyone loves it!

LIPS

This is a tattoo procedure that enhances or corrects your lips, but because our spa uses natural organic vegetable dye, it typically lasts no longer than two years. Click the picture to find out more about that particular service.

LIP LINER $500

Lip Liner is natural appearing semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that can be applied to give more definition, correct uneven lips, which will result in a fuller appearance. The procedure also helps prevent lipstick from bleeding and can minimize the appearance of wrinkles.

MATTE LIPSTICK $1000

Matte Lipstick gives the lips a full coverage matte lipstick effect from the lip contour to the inner lips. The pigment is even from the contour to the inner lips. We have a variety of colors to choose from.

LIP BLUSH / LIP GLOSS $800

Lip Blush/Lip Gloss is a new Semi-permanent treatment, Lip Blush treatment enhances the natural shape of your lips, giving them that boost, symmetry and color. Lip Blush gives your lips 30% more volume that will last, unlike fillers.

OMBRE LIP $1000

Ombre will give a faded shading effect from the lip contour to the inner lips. The pigment is darkest at the edge of the lip line and the lightest in the middle. It has a gradual fade effect.

COLOR CORRECTION $300 or 600

Color Correction is for lips that are different colors. We can do just the color correction, or it can be an add on before we do a Lip Blush, Matte, or Ombre Lip for $300. ***You may need 2-3 sessions of correction before color is applied, at that point it would be $300 per correction session before the Lip Blush, Ombre or Matte can be placed.

BEAUTY MARKS $200

Beauty Marks are a popular form permanent makeup. It involves inserting small amounts of pigment being inserted into the top layer of skin where the cells rejuvenate, which is why the makeup fades over time and it’s recommended having a touching up every 2 years. We do Beauty Marks for $200, each additional Beauty Mark would be $50.

FRECKLES $400

The stigma against freckles has disappeared. With them being celebrated in fashion editorials and on celebrities, the sun-kissed spots are now considered beautiful. And for those without the natural marks, you can get them done here very easily and pain-free.

Brow Faqs

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is NOT recommended by anyone here at Permanent Makeup in Maine. Microblading is placed with a hand tool that has 12 tiny pins on it and almost resembles a razor blade. Basically, it’s creating tiny little papercuts with pigment deposited in each one. It’s terrible for your skin and will result in some pretty serious scarring, which becomes more noticeable after the pigment has completely faded out. If you’ve ever had Mircroblading done, you WILL have scarring every time. You may not see it because it’s deep into the dermis, but after 3 touchups it will start to become visible and you will start to hate your Brows. We’ve seen scarring after just ONE session done by local artists, and it breaks our hearts. The owner, Ashley Beaulieu, is VERY passionate about her Permanent Makeup procedures and will educate you on the difference between Microblading and Permanent Makeup. Most people only know the term “Microblading” and don’t even realize the huge difference between Microblading and Permanent Makeup. Also, in the State of Maine Microblading is NOT regulated, which means ANYONE can do it: you don’t even need a license to take a client! Here at Permanent Makeup in Maine, all of our staff are properly certified and accredited in ALL of the procedures we offer. Please do your diligent research when it comes to your face!

WHAT ARE 3D HAIR STROKES?

3D hair strokes are designed to resemble realistic eyebrow hair. You would want this procedure if you have little to no brow hair to give them a more natural look. It is done with a machine and single tapered needle. Basically, we are creating tiny little strokes of pigment that pop and look like real hair. It doesn’t hurt because you are numbed 20 minutes before the procedure begins. Total healing time is 6-8 weeks. 3D hair strokes is a dry heal process for 3 days after the procedure, You cannot excessively sweat/exercise or get them wet during those 3 days while healing. A light aftercare cream (given at the conclusion of your appointment) is applied daily after those initial 3 days to help the skin to heal. It is a very easy process and following after care instructions will give you stunningly beautiful, realistic brows that can last up to 12 – 18 months. ***A consultation for all PMU procedures is required to talk about which service is best for your needs and what you’re looking for.

WHAT IS THE OMBRE POWDER BROW

Ombre is a powdered brow technique for clients who prefer fuller results than hair strokes, but still want them to appear very soft. This look resembles daily makeup done with an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow shadow. This particular procedure is our most common type of Brow done, as it’s considered the “Instagram Brow” by our younger clientele. Several different types of Power Ombre Brow are available and good for all skin types, especially oily skin with large pores. ***A consultation for all PMU procedures is required to talk about which service is best for your needs and what you’re looking for.

WHAT IS THE COMBO BROW?

The “Combo” (also known as the “3D stroke & shade”) is a combination of 3D hair strokes and the “Powder Brow” technique. This procedure is perfect for clients who like the look of a soft penciled or powdered eyebrow or for clients wanting a more defined look throughout the entire brow. The healing process for this type of brow is the same as 3D hair strokes since we will be putting some realistic strokes at the bulb of the brow and anywhere there is hair missing. It’s best to have a natural, full-looking brow for this type of technique to look good. Results from the Combo Brow will make you wake up smiling! ***A consultation for all PMU procedures is required to talk about which service is best for your needs and what you’re looking for.

HOW LONG DO PMU BROWS LAST?

3D hair stroke eyebrows last 12-18 months for most people before they usually need a touch up. Cosmetic tattoo treatments are considered permanent and will not wash off, though they will fade over time and may need to be refreshed annually. Those who did not follow after care instructions properly may require more frequent touch ups. Combo Brows and Ombre Powder Brows typically last longer at 2-4 years but will still need a touchup every 2-4 years. Keep in mind though that everyone’s skin is different.

DOES IT HURT?

We use three different types of topical numbing agents to help alleviate any discomfort. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?

Your brows will take 10-14 days to heal. During that time frame, we highly recommend that you let them naturally exfoliate off. DO NOT PICK AT YOUR BROWS! You would also be encouraged to keep them free of water, sweat, steam, etc. Once the scabbing phase passes, the brows will appear lighter, and their true color should come out after 4-6 weeks. It is also recommended that if you go outside to wear a hat; you don’t want your new brows to be damaged by the sun while they are healing! Don’t worry though, as long as you’re good at following the aftercare instructions provided there shouldn’t be a problem going to work or being out in public.

EYELINER Faqs

WHAT IS EYELASH ENHANCEMENT LINER?

Lash Enhancement Liner is the latest PMU beauty procedure on the rise. The technique involves tattooing a light black line across your natural lashes (not on your waterline) and can be done on the top, bottom, or both lash lines. The procedure requires a 4-6 week touch-up period after the initial process. Once the touch-ups are complete, the results can last up to 3-5 years.

WHAT IS SMUDGE LINER?

Smudge Liner is very similar to the Lash Enhancement Liner, however it’s thicker and heals out to be more like traditional eyeliner that you would draw on with a pencil or liquid eyeliner pen. The procedure involves tattooing a thicker black line across your natural lashes (not on your waterline) and can be done on the top and bottom (or both) of the lash line. The procedure requires a 4-6 week touch-up period after the intial process. Once the touch-ups are done, the results can last up to 3-5 years

LIP Tattoo Faqs

WHAT IS LIP BLUSH?

Lip Blushing AKA Lip Gloss is a form of semi-permanent makeup. Essentially, it is a cosmetic tattoo of the lips that enhances the beauty of the natural lip color, improving the shape of the lips, giving definition and the illusion of fullness, This procedure delivers very natural results, once healed. Filler is great for creating volume in your lips, but lip blush delivers a more natural look and give the illusion of fuller lips.

WHAT IS THE LIP LINER TATTOO?

Lip Liner procedure will correct uneven lips and will result in a fuller more youthful appearance. A Lip liner tattoo will also help prevent your lipstick from bleeding as well as minimising the appearance of wrinkles.

YOU’RE TOO EXPENSIVE, I FOUND SOMEONE CHEAPER

Permanent Makeup is an extremely meticulous procedure. Remember, this is your face and it is semi-permanent. Not only has Ashley trained with the top PMU artists in the world, she has also graduated from the best Micropigmentation school in the USA: Nouveau Contour USA out of Orlando, Florida. Thanks to her skill and passion, she has been named #1 Permanent Makeup Artist of the year by the Academy of Micropigmentation for 3 years in a row! Not to mention, Ashley Beaulieu is the ONLY Board Certified Artist & Instructor in the whole state of Maine. When looking for an artist, do not nickel and dime your face. Microblading in the state of Maine is not regulated, therefore, anyone can do it. Please, please, PLEASE research your artists and, more importantly, look at their work before you book an appointment. Paying less up front might end up costing you AND your face a lot more in the long run..

IS THIS PROCEDURE PERMANENT?

Because the color is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off, it is considered permanent. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, making it fade over time and requiring future touch ups. ***A consultation for all PMU procedures is required to talk about which service is best for your needs and what you’re looking for.

IS THE TOUCH-UP APPOINTMENT NECESSARY?

For any PMU brows, at least one touch-up appointment is needed 6-8 week after your initial procedure. Touch ups are done no earlier than 4 weeks after your initial procedure and no later than 12. You will be required to schedule your touch-up within 8 weeks of your initial procedure which will be complimentary to your procedure. You will be required to pay a touch up fee outlined in the touch-up schedule if it is after 8 weeks. It is absolutely imperative to complete the touch up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal. At the touch up, we assess the color retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always go bolder and add more density and correct any irregularities in your brow during the complimentary touch-up.

AFTER YOU’VE HEALED

  • PMU can last anywhere from 1-4 years depending on the clients lifestyle, skin type and aftercare.
  • Exposure to the sun and tanning beds can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment.
  • When you are outdoors always apply sunscreen to the the PMU area once completely healed.
  • Maintain removal of unwanted brow hair outside of your PMU shape by tweezing, waxing, threading or razoring.
  • Do not laser around the PMU area as some lasers can change the color of the pigment.
  • Additional makeup application may still be required post PMU to achieve your desired look.
  • For further sun protection, wear hats and sunglasses.
  • Yearly touch ups are recommended to maintain your results.

PLEASE NOTE: THE RESULTS ARE NATURAL, FULLER LOOKING BROWS OR LIPS. INITIALLY THE BROWS, EYELINER, OR LIPS MAY APPEAR DARKER BUT FADE SIGNIFICANTLY OVER THE FIRST TWO WEEKS. ALTHOUGH WE USE PREMIUM PRODUCTS AND PROVIDE QUALITY SERVICE, ALL CLIENTS HEAL DIFFERENTLY AND MANY FACTORS LEAD TO VARIED RESULTS. IT IS CRUCIAL TO TO HAVE A TOUCH UP DONE AS IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PREDICT HOW WELL YOUR SKIN WILL RETAIN THE PIGMENT. DUE TO THIS AND OTHER VARYING FACTORS, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR RESULTS.

I HAD MY PMU DONE SOMEWHERE ELSE, CAN YOU DO THE TOUCH-UP?

If you have had PMU done elsewhere and need a touch up the full service price will be charged as if you are a new client. I will also need to see you for a consultation before hand to see if you are a good candidate for my services. Microblading CANNOT be done as a corrective. At that point you can only choose Combo or Ombre Brow and that will be assessed during your consultation.
